Nurse clinics

Weight clinic

It can be difficult to tell if your animal is overweight. Even the professionals don?t realise sometimes! Overfeeding, lifestyle changes and lack of exercise are all reasons why nearly 50% of animals are overweight. Neutering reduces a pets energy needs by about 25% making them more prone to weight gain. Obesity is not just about how a pet looks, it can seriously affect your pet in every day life and also lead to serious disease such as diabetes, mobility disorders, heart disease and more. Fortunately, here at Blythwood, we have nurses on hand to help you deal with this problem. We run a free weight clinic where we can discuss your pets individual needs to help them achieve their target weight and have them fitter not fatter!

Senior pet clinic

Our senior pet clinic aims to carry out regular in depth health examinations to try and pick up age related diseases and to treat them before they become serious.  Early diagnosis and preventative healthcare is the key to this clinic and can help ensure your pet fulfils its maximum life expectancy. Contact any of our sites for further details.

Puppy and kitten clinics

A new addition to the family is a very happy and exciting time, but it can also be a little confusing- which food to feed? Do I need insurance? Should I have my pet neutered? There are many questions to answer. Blythwood run a free nurse clinic to discuss all the topics every new pet owner needs to know. Even if you haven?t yet decided which pet is for you, give us a ring and our nurses will be happy to give you some advice.

Pedicures

Nurses also carry out pedicures for dogs, cats and rabbits, and this will cost less than an appointment with a vet. This helps to prevent their nails (especially dewclaws) being caught and torn on things like carpet and often becomes important as a pet becomes elderly. In particular, elderly cats nails can tend not to shed anymore and therefore may grow right around and into their pad, causing them pain and infection, so should be checked regularly.

Dental check

Up to 4 out of 5 dogs and cats over the age of three suffer from some form of dental disease, which can affect health and wellbeing in many ways.  Our nurse dental health checks are an ideal way to check oral health. She can advise you on the best treatment and preventative healthcare to suit you and your pets needs.
